Notre Dame Service Enriched Community Housing

HEB worked with Alba Architects LLP to renovate the old Notre Dame High School building into an assisted living complex for AHEAD. The building stood empty for decades before AHEAD purchased the property with the intent of providing much-needed elderly housing. The renovation of this historic building into 33 individual units included significant coordination with the various funding agencies as well as local, state and historical permitting. HEB provided field survey and base map preparation, civil-site design, structural analysis and design, and as-built surveying. The site’s steep slope provided several challenges for the site design requiring the use of extensive retaining walls and detailed grading and drainage design. In addition, the age and condition of the structure provided significant structural challenges for the design of the building’s complete renovation. Construction of the project began in January 2013 and was substantially complete by December 2014.
